22 - A New Year and an old piece...

Well according to my BSU account I have earned a B+ and an A- for the semester which means I am now a BSU graduate. I have me a BFA in Illustration after only 4 1/2 years which isn't bad considering I switched my major over from Art Education after 2 years. Guess now I just have to wait for that pretty little piece of paper to show up in the mail and do my best to keep chugging along and not slow down on my artwork.
In an effort to accomplish this I will be making my New Year's resolution a crazy one, well for me anyways. I will work on a sketch or piece of art everyday throughout the whole year. I should already be to this point so it's time to get on the ball and quit with the procrastination. Should be fun.
Now that I am officially a graduate I would like to send huge thanks out to Dan Scott and Bill Carman, my two teachers from this semester and the two guys I learned the most from during my time at BSU. They are both amazing teachers which completely different styles but if you ever get a chacne to meet either one or take a class from them do it becuase you are guaranteed to learn something interesting. Thanks tons guys, everything you did for me is well appreciated.
And on to the post pic, I wanted something that represented my time at BSU so I am putting up the piece I did for the Illustration class musical poster assignment. Not my best work at BSU but a piece I had a lot of fun doing and one that turned out pretty cool. So that there is the poster I came up with when I found out they were doing Evil Dead The Musical. So cool, singing zombies man, can't beat that with a stick, well , maybe a Boomstick.

21 - Tauren Deathknight, oh yeah...

And here it is the third and final piece of the semester. A take on the new Deathknight class in World of Warcraft with my old shaman character in mind a bit. Took the look of Tonytwocrows and thought what he would end up looking like as a Deathknight. Trying to get a darker character to look solidly placed in an artic area was a big challenge. I think I could have mixed in more colors but I am happy with the outcome. I learned plenty working on it and there is always next time.
Hopefully Bill Carman will approve because it is the last piece of homework I will ever have to turn in, as long as I get passing grades from my two classes this semester. Well off to the next piece, I'm thinking of something kinda Animal...

20 - Who you with America?!!?

And now we have caricature number 2 peoples, the semester is winding down and it's time to finish these things off and turn them in. I think my Bernie Mac turned out pretty good, I kinda regret going without the smile though since Bernie had such a great smile. But I think I got the likeness pretty well and found a color scheme I liked.
Well it's done, I'm happy and now I have something to remember another one of our great comedians, lost to us to soon.

19 - George Carlin final...finally

Where here it finally is. After months of back and forth with my teacher Bill Carman trying to help me fix all my mistakes and dumb ideas and my boy Tony Montano helping me along the way with everything it has finally all come together into what I think is a pretty good caricature. George Carlin, one of my all time favs died this year and now I have something great to remember him bye. We all miss ya Georgey boy...
Now I gotta go finish my Bernie Mac, times a tickin...

18 - Raving Rabbids...

After seeing an add for the new Rayman game it reminded me of this piece I had done last year for a spot illustration assignment. This is the first work I ever did with only Illustrator vector art and no scanned in pieces. I remembered that it started as a bit of a pain and then when I started multiplying the rabbids it got to be fun.
Everyone can use more rabbids in the life...

17 - Fun day Friday

One of my friends reminded me of the past love we all had for Pinky and The Brain and well I needed to play around with Photoshop CS3 because I'm been doing everything with Corel Painter X and I've been told by many to use both programs (Bill and Tony I do listen) to get the effects I want. The lines are a fair bit sketchier than I wanted but it was just a fun coloring exercise and I luckily found a couple of things I really liked about the program. On to the holidays and homework, have a great turkey day everyone!

16 - the first Mac sketch

Time keeps on marching. I'm finally catching up, this here is the first skecth that I seem to be getting a nice likeness of Bernie Mac so it's gonna be the one I use for the final digital painting. Gotta go finish off George and then I'll get started on Bernie. Things are looking up.
