2 - BFA show pieces

Here are the three pieces I turned in for my Sr. Illustration Studio and hung in the Hemingway Gallery at Boise State for the BFA Show for my Professional Practices class. They are my own little twists on some classic and hopefully easily recognizable characters. My main influence for doing these pieces is the comic book Fables, James Jean gives them amazing covers for the great characters created by Bill Willingham. Having been lucky enough to catch onto this great comic over the last year it made me wonder what my version of some of the classic characters of literature would look like.
I am happy with the end result of all three, I got some details in there that I am really happy about. Plus these pieces are the resaon I went out an bought a Mac, a Wacom and Corel Painter X, along with some help from Photoshop I gave myself a very fast learning curve over the course of the semester and got some great results. Now I just have to keep going, learning everyday is the goal, always on the lookout for a happy accident.

1 - start it with a Fett, or a bang I mean...

Might as well try and start this thing off right. Here is my first ever digital sketch, done in Corel X with a Wacom tablet. Two things I just got recently and still need to spend a couple hundred hours practicing with. And hell, everyone likes Boba Fett, I actually did this sketch while looking at a box for a small Boba Fett statue. I think it turned out pretty good for my first go round. And hopefully they will only get better.
