11 - Georgee Boy #2

Well overtime at EDS not withstanding I have actually gotten another sketch of Mr. Carlin done. This one doesn't have that little smirk that seemed to come through on the last one but I do like the way the hair layers came out even though it is a scan of a pencil sketch.
I actually had some fun trying to put the lines on the mic , something I had never done before and the effect seems to work. Now I just need to apply what I have found in the sketches toward the final digital painting. Hopefully it will all come together.

10 - George Carlin sketch

Well the hectic new job and moving into the new apartment have finally let up a bit and I am now finding a little time to draw. My goal now is to finish a couple more sketches of Georgey boy so I can have a better idea of were to push the final when I start it.
The idea is to make the final look like it is on a stage,spot-lighted,with the 7 words you can't say on TV or radio laid over the background.
As always any comments or suggestions are always welcome. Back to the phones, it's time to make the donuts again.

9 - George Carlin, a pioneer mourned

George Carlin, one of my favorite comedians has saddly passed on. Which in a certain way is kinda cool, I gotta figure he now has a much larger audience whereever he ended up. Carlin was always able to put a smile on my face, his brand of comedy has always been inline with my view of the world in which we all live. Anyways I am thinking of doing a caricature of Carlin so I am going to start in on some sketches and get them posted when the new job and moving into the new place allows.

8 - once a month is not enough...

Well, life goes on, and get's in the way, ha!. Things are great except my free time, or lack there of. But even as I am in training at EDS I still am finding a little time to ketch during breaks. The influence to this one is easy to see if you have ever read FEAR Agent, Tony Moore is one hell of an artist. I just finished the first trade, great read. Everyone should have there own version of a crazy space hero that accomplishes amazing deeds whilst saving damsels in dire deep space situations.

7 - SK monochrome

I have no idea why the last one loaded with red eyes, this is how the eyes are suppose to look. All blue baby, that's how he lulls you into a false sense of security.

6 - Stephen King finishes

Well I got the color on em and delivered the final file to the printer tonight so I can hand in my last Illustration assignment of the year tomorrow afternoon. I still seem to have a weird eye for skin tone, I don't know what that's all about. It made my figures in painting class look wierd to, maybe I'll figure it out next year. So I went with a monochrome version, which I think works a lot better. Now I guess I just need to show it to a couple peole and ask them who it is, that way I can find out how well it works as a caricature.

5 - Stephen King Sketches part 2

Do to influences in class, namely my boy Tony Montano - my fellow super cool illustration student, and Bill Carman - my super cool illustration teacher. Each trip to class led to a new version of the sketch and thankfully a better version, each has progressively looked more like SK to yours trully. Now I need to go get some color in it and finish it.
